Autofocus
For the first time on a Canon traditional camcorder, the XF405/XF400 features Canon’s innovative Dual Pixel CMOS AF focusing, ensuring smooth focus transitions and pin sharp accuracy.
Refined, responsive focusing
The XF405/XF400 is small, light and agile. With its 4K capabilities that means focusing has to be exceptionally quick and accurate.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF - How it works
Dual Pixel CMOS AF is a sensor-based, phase detection Auto Focus (AF) technology designed to provide smooth, high-performance focus tracking and fast autofocus acquisition. It is a unique, Canon-developed technology, that uses two photo diodes per pixel for autofocus and combines them for recording video.
This allows accurate focus to be maintained, even with moving subjects, which is vital for 4K capture and makes single operator shooting more efficient.
Touchscreen control
Discover how the XF405/XF400 touchscreen allows you to perform focus point selection and tracking.
Face Detection
Face Detection AF technology in the XF405/XF400 means your subject remains in focus while you stay in control.
Dual Pixel Focus Guide
Using Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology to confirm manual focus, the GUI first seen on Cinema EOS cameras indicates which way the lens focus ring needs to be turned to achieve accurate focus.
